Our Funding Guidelines
Our purpose at the German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation is to promote projects that give young adults in Germany and Israel an opportunity to exchange ideas and work together. Future refers here not only to the next generation, but also to new topics, perspectives, and avenues. If our core ideas pique your interest, we look forward to reading your project proposal!
On this page you will find answers to questions regarding our funding criteria and our two-phase application process. The two phases consist of an online funding proposal followed by a successive funding application, for which we invite you if selected.
A click on one of the following headlines takes you to the explanatory text. You’ll find important information on our funding priorities under “Priorities”. To access the online form of our first phase of funding proposal, click under “Funding Proposal”.
We fund bilateral projects, which offer young adults from Germany and Israel the possibility of a content related exchange and intensive cooperative work. We fund projects that have:
- one organization in Israel and one in Germany, who are responsible for the project and/or
- elements of the proposed project in both countries and/or
- ideas that were conceptualized for participants of both countries.
Your project target group should be young professionals and university students as well as multipliers who are willing to actively shape German-Israeli relations in different areas of society. The projects should provide opportunities to create and sustain networks.
Depending on the program priority, we fund anywhere from a single workshop to projects that run up to three years.
Your project idea emphasizes the cooperation between young adults in different areas of German-Israeli relations such as in culture, education, media, social issues and science, as well as the economy.
Language courses are also eligible for funding under certain conditions.
We particularly welcome funding proposals committed to an innovative treatment of current and future-oriented questions that take on issues in present-day German and Israeli societies. For more information, please read under “Priorities.”
In some instances, we do not fund certain types of projects. These include:
- Institutional funding
- Projects without overall financing
- Projects already underway
- Projects with a tourism-related or commercial background
- Building measures
- Start-up investments
Please note that we cannot consider proposals for a short-term coverage of projects that are in-between other sources of funding.
We can only fund organizing institutions to carry out projects, which
- are legally registered non-profit organizations and
- are based in Germany or Israel and
- can guarantee a sound business management and
- can prove the appropriate and non-profit use of funds.
At this time, we can only grant individual funding within the framework of our program priority language acquisition.
We can fund your project within the framework of part-, shortfall- or fixed-sum financing. An appropriate self-contribution -allowances in kind or cash resources- is customary and preferable.
Costs eligible for funding are those that are normally accrued during the time in which project activities and project implementation take place. This includes material costs such as traveling and transportation expenses, expenses related to participants’ food and accommodation, as well as honorarium, organization, and material fees. Personnel costs can also be funded but require an additional explanation.
If you are interested in being funded by the German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation, please fill out the Online Form for your funding proposal and send in your completed form to us electronically. Please note: proposals can only be submitted online. Initial funding forms can be found under “Funding Proposals”.
Within four weeks you should receive an answer as to whether or not your proposal was chosen for the next phase of our application process. With this answer, you will receive a PDF form for your application.
We will accept your funding proposal at any time.
If we have invited you to the second phase of the application process, please be aware that the Board of Trustees makes the decisions on any funding over 30 000 Euro. For a timely preparation, any applications for funds in this range must be submitted every year by either March 1 or September 1. You can expect a response by May 31 or November 30 respectively.
Given that there are two phases to the application process, please plan your time accordingly.
