The New Synagogue Berlin – Centrum Judaicum Foundation celebrated the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Centrum Judaicum in the partially reconstructed New Synagogue on Oranienburger Straße with a ceremony.
The event, moderated by Dr. Tamara Or, was attended by around 200 invited guests from the worlds of politics, culture, academia, and society. Together, they discussed the importance of remembrance and the role of museums and memorials in today’s globalized world. The ceremony also honored the history of the institution and the people who shaped its development over three decades. Dr. Hermann Simon, former chairman of the board of trustees of the Future Forum and founding director of the Centrum Judaicum, spoke to the audience about the early years and developments of the Centrum.
