Shaping the Future

At the German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation, we offer young adults in Germany and Israel an opportunity for creative teamwork. To deal with the past in a responsible way, as well as to address the range of experiences and living environments in the here and now is at the center of our work: while these facets draw controversy, both also have great potential for further societal development. This can be a challenging task; nonetheless, at the German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation, we are wholly committed to responding to this challenge. We fund bilateral projects that take on current societal issues in Germany and Israel as well as address young people with different social, political, and cultural backgrounds. This focus can be seen most clearly in the Foundation’s funding priorities and in our support of individual projects.

On December 6, 2007, the German-Israeli Future Forum was established as a foundation with legal capacity under German Civil Law by the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Israel. The Foundation began its work in February of 2009. The idea was developed in 2005 by the German Federal President and the Israeli President during celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.
