Funding
The German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation was established on December 6th, 2007 as a private foundation in accordance with the Berlin Foundations Act, with an endowment provided by the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Israel. The Foundation’s purpose is to improve and maintain bilateral relations between Israel and Germany. To this end, its focus is on creating and strengthening relations and networks between youth and young adults.
What we fund
In line with its objectives, the Foundation funds projects that foster contact and cooperation between youth and young adults in all areas of German-Israeli relations, in particular between specialists and professionals who could in the future assume responsibility for maintaining and developing bilateral relations. This applies explicitly to people from the worlds of politics, parliamentary affairs, media, administration, business, culture, education and social affairs.
The Foundation is active both in Germany and Israel and gives priority to collaborative projects carried out by German and Israeli organizations or projects that have a part of their program in both countries. Projects of a limited duration that pursue the Foundation’s objectives will in principle receive funding only if they follow the funding principles or any further program guidelines that may be adopted by the board of trustees.
Who we fund
Juristic persons under private and public law in Germany and Israel may receive funding. Grants will only be approved to organizations that can guarantee proper administration and prove that the funds will be used for the agreed purposes. Individuals can only receive funding under any fellowship or special programs, prizes and competitions that the Foundation may organize.
How we fund
Projects will as a rule receive partial or fixed-sum financing on the basis of a grant agreement. The project executing organization will preferably cover a reasonable share of the project costs itself. Funding may be granted to cover costs that are normally incurred when organizing events and projects.
What is not eligible for funding?
Institutional funding is not possible, construction work is not funded, nor is initial financing provided. Projects cannot be funded if their overall financing is uncertain, if projects have already begun or if they are touristic or commercial in nature.
Application procedure and award of funds
The German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation welcomes all proposals regarding topics within the framework of the program priorities or special topics. To allow for fast and appropriate feedback, it is essential that the proposal includes a precise project description as well as a cost and funding plan. The letter of proposal in English should be no longer than two pages. If possible a German translation should be enclosed. After reviewing the submission, applicants will either receive an invitation to submit their application or a rejection of their proposal. For those applications with a funding volume exceeding 30,000 Euro, it is important that they are submitted each year before March 31st or September 30th in order to ensure a decision by the board of trustees in due time.
Guidelines for applicants
Your proposal should include the following information:
- Who is asking for funding (person/institution)?
- To which program priority would you allocate your proposal?
- What is the subject of your inquiry (title, description and duration of the project)?
- What goals are you planning to pursue in your project?
- How would you like to accomplish your aims?
- What partners and/or other sponsors are participating in developing and/or financing?
- How high are the foreseeable total costs? What percentage of the total costs do you hope to receive from the Foundation?
- In which connection do you see your project in respect to the main emphasis of the German-Israeli Future Forum (bilateral relations, building of networks and future orientation)?
