What opens our eyes and allows us to find new paths and stories? This question became the focal point of the German-Israeli Literature Days 2023: "With open eyes". The event was planned in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Goethe Institute and was supposed to take place at Deutsches Theater in Berlin. A total of six authors from Germany, Israel and Austria, including well-known names such as Ayelet Gundar-Goshen and Dinçer Güçyeter, who received the year's Leipzig Book Fair Prize, were invited to discuss questions of belonging, climate change and the current situation in Israel in various panel discussions.
The event had to be canceled due to the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
We plan to reschedule the event in fall 2024.
