Award Ceremony 2022
On October 11, 2022, the award ceremony for the Shimon Peres Prize took place for the sixth time at the Berlin City Hall. After a reception hosted by Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey, we celebrated the award ceremony in the presence of the Peres family, the Environmental Minister of the United Arab Emirates, the Israeli Ambassador and numerous guests from Israel and Germany. Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock presented the award to two outstanding collaborative projects: an Israeli-German project and, for the first time, a German-Israeli-Emirati project. Both have been particularly committed to forward-looking issues:

Dr. Klaus Lederer, Deputy Mayor of Berlin, warmly welcomed the approximately 300 guests in the Great Ceremonial Hall of the Berlin City Hall. Jury members, Dr. Alice Brauner and Antonia Yamin, moderated the evening in German and Hebrew. In her speech, Prof. Tsvia Walden, daughter of Shimon Peres, emphasized the importance of creativity and optimism in shaping a more just and peaceful world. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock underlined in her keynote speech, that this year's projects are an exemplary continuation of the legacy of Shimon Peres, who was always committed to social and international cooperation as well as courageous and forward-looking innovations.

Dr. Tamara Or, director of the Future Forum, acknowledged the groundbreaking work of the awardees, reminding the audience "that what we do and what we stand for says much more about who we are than where we come from and what we believe."

Dr. Yonatan (Yoni) Peres, son of Shimon Peres, and his band Zman le Shalom (“Time for Peace”) provided the musical entertainment with songs in Hebrew, Arabic and English.

The event concluded with a shared celebration with music, food and drinks at the City Hall.
